On a beautiful early summer morning, the power of collaboration and partnership was on full display with the re-launch of the annual Free Summer Meals program.

During a ceremony Friday, June 21, at Burnham Park in Milwaukee, CFI, as well as the Hunger Task Force, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Kohl’s and plenty of other partners, celebrated the start of this year’s program. This year, more than 150 sites throughout Milwaukee will give kids access to three meals per day.

CFI assembles and provides the meals to the community through the program, which has served more than 1 million kids over the last 10-plus years.

The event was hosted by Near West Side Partners, as well as its project partners including CFI, Fruition MKE, SWIM Milwaukee and more. Hundreds of community leaders, members and residents were on-hand to tour and celebrate a community coming together.

Among the leaders in attendance were Senator Tammy Baldwin, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley and Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.

It was an exciting evening. Be sure to check out the pictures!
