Candles gifts for people

CFI’s LIFE Services Clients Recognized for Volunteerism

The candles gifted to LIFE Services include the volunteer's name as well as the definition of a volunteer.

For nearly two decades, the Centers for Independence’s (CFI) LIFE Services program has partnered with Meals on Wheels to deliver meals to members of the community across Milwaukee. This volunteer opportunity is a favorite activity among participants.

Recognizing the impact of their contributions, Meals on Wheels gifted the LIFE Services group personalized candles as a token of appreciation.

Twice a week, LIFE Services’ City LIFE and Brain Health clients visit Horizon Home Care to package meals for their delivery routes. With support from LIFE Services team members, the groups deliver meals door-to-door, often greeting recipients and presenting their meals with a smile. These interactions promote social connection and community inclusion.

Volunteering provides clients with meaningful opportunities to practice essential life and vocational skills. Through this work, participants learn to take direction from others, stay on task, develop working relationships and demonstrate commitment. These experiences support individual goals of community engagement and, in many cases, future employment.

Meals on Wheels continues to welcome volunteers. If you are looking for a way to give back while supporting personal development in others, consider joining this effort.
