Children's Services

Our early intervention programs help children with identified developmental challenges overcome the odds and reach their highest potential.

MCFI Children’s Behavioral Health, a part of MCFI’s Behavioral Health program, aims to assist children (ages birth to 12) and families struggling with mental health concerns, behavioral challenges, traumatic experiences, and parenting.

Success Story: 'It's not sad, but it's bittersweet'

In January 2021, Ava Jeanes was born at 24 weeks old. She underwent multiple open-heart surgeries, a tracheostomy, and stayed at Childrens’ Hospital for 456 days.

“Ava is a social baby,” said her mother Cassandra, “she loved talking being around the nurses, but of course she couldn’t really play with the other kids on the floor.”

As the discharge date from Childrens’ approached, Ava’s mom was recommended CFI from many of the nurses there.

“It’s the place to go,” Cassandra said. “We visited before the discharge date, and instantly felt comfortable with the place. The nurses there are so kind and professional.”

Since coming to CFI, Ava has found a place where she can play with other kids, socialize, and show her personality all while in a safe and professional environment.

“She’s going to remember all of the people here,” her mom says, “she got her trach out in May and graduated. It’s not sad, but it’s bittersweet. We’re going to miss CFI.”

Ava left CFI right as she was learning how to walk – as she’s very determined, we’re sure she’ll reach her goal.

Your facility is one of a kind here in Wisconsin and we do appreciate you all.

Medical Day Care

Established in 2006, our medical day care serves children and toddlers with complex medical conditions. The program goal is to improve the health of each child — many who are tracheotomy- and/or ventilator-dependent — while providing a caring and enriching learning environment and support for the family. It is the only community-based skilled nursing service for children in Milwaukee certified by Medicaid. It is also the only program that has earned the Joint Commission gold-seal accreditation, an internationally recognized quality certification for health-care organizations.
