CFI elevates Alvin C. Hill, Jr. to Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Community Affairs

MILWAUKEE (Sept. 4, 2024) – Centers for Independence (CFI) announces today the promotion of Alvin C. Hill, Jr. to vice president of diversity, equity, inclusion & community affairs. In his new role, Hill will be responsible for the comprehensive planning, execution and supervision of CFI’s workforce and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategies and initiatives.

Since 2004, Hill has been an integral part of the CFI team, dedicated to strengthening Wisconsin communities by helping individuals overcome life challenges and advance their total health and well-being. Under his leadership, CFI was awarded the Wisconsin Association of Equal Opportunity Strategic Diversity Council Award, the Wisconsin State Council Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Workplace Diversity Advocate Award in 2010 and 2017, and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) Focus of the Future Award, Equity, Honorable Mention in 2021.

As a distinguished speaker, Hill has delivered diversity training to numerous organizations throughout the region, including Froedtert Health, Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the Association of Talent Development, Welders Supply, Wells Fargo, Wisconsin Community Services (WCS), Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), and WOW County Workforce Board.

With decades of experience in community affairs and human resources, Hill brings strong leadership and team-building skills to the position.

Before joining CFI, Hill served as HR generalist/affirmative action officer for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. He began his career with the Wisconsin Army National Guard where he served as chief of the Equal Opportunity Section for the 32D Separate Infantry Brigade. Hill is a past State Director of Diversity Inclusion and Workflex for the Wisconsin State Council SHRM. He is currently a founding board member and president of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources-Milwaukee Chapter.

Hill received an associate of applied science degree in marketing from Milwaukee Area Technical College and is a graduate of the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute.
