Planning Your Legacy: Join CFI’s Legacy Giving Labs Oct. 28 & 29

Planning for the future is about more than finances. It’s about ensuring your values, priorities and goals to continue to make an impact for the people and causes you care about most.

To help individuals and families navigate the many decisions involved in long-term planning, CFI is hosting Legacy Giving Labs, a two-day educational series focused on estate planning, planned giving and strategies for creating a lasting legacy.

Held Oct. 28 and 29 from 5 to 7 p.m., the sessions will provide practical guidance from legal professionals with experience helping individuals and families make informed decisions about their future. Attendees can participate in person at CFI’s Main Campus (2020 W. Wells St., Milwaukee) or join via livestream.

Navigating Special Needs Trusts & Planned Giving Basics

The first session, “Navigating Special Needs Trusts & Planned Giving Basics,” will take place on Oct. 28 and be led by Dr. Adella S. Deacon, JD, DPT, founder and managing attorney of Sable Law Group Wisconsin.

With more than 15 years of experience in estate planning and related legal matters, Deacon works with individuals and families to understand their options, protect their assets and create thoughtful plans for the future. During the session, she will discuss the role of special needs trusts and introduce key concepts in planned giving, helping attendees better understand tools available to support loved ones while advancing their charitable goals.

Legacy Strategies for Real Estate, Complex Assets and Planned Giving

On Oct. 29, attendees can join “Legacy Strategies for Real Estate, Complex Assets and Planned Giving,” presented by Aaron Foley, an attorney with von Briesen & Roper, s.c.

Foley focuses his practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration, business law, real estate and adult guardianship. He also volunteers through the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee’s GAIN Project, which connects adults with cognitive disabilities with volunteer legal guardians.

His session will explore strategies for incorporating real estate and other complex assets into a long-term legacy plan, offering insights for individuals who are considering how to maximize the impact of their charitable and estate-planning goals.

Building a Legacy That Reflects Your Values

Whether you’re beginning to think about estate planning, exploring charitable giving opportunities or reviewing an existing plan, Legacy Giving Labs offers an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and gain a better understanding of the options available.

By taking steps today, individuals and families can create plans that protect what matters most while supporting the causes they believe in for years to come.
