About the Show

  1. Ice cream.
  2. Kung Fu movies.
  3. Staying up past your bedtime to watch TV.

Those are just the start of a list of every brilliant thing that makes life worth living created in this luminous mix of theater and stand-up and delivered in alternate performances by two of Milwaukee’s best-loved actors.

In EVERY BRILLIANT THING, the narrator begins to build this list of brilliant things as a young child coping with their mother’s recurring suicidal tendencies. As the story unfolds, the list grows alongside the narrator, highlighting their journey through life while grappling with the generational impact of mental health struggles, often incorporating audience participation to emphasize the shared human experience of finding joy in the face of adversity.

EVERY BRILLIANT THING seeks to remove the stigma of seeking help and highlights the many reasons why life is worth living through an affirming and immersive experience that builds community and connections, reminding us that no one can go through life alone.

Driving Awareness for Mental Health Resources

CFI is partnering with Milwaukee Chamber Theater, NAMI, Sober in the Brew City, Bloom and other sponsors to provide information and resources at each performance. On March 6 and 13, CFI’s very own behavioral health experts will participate in special post-show panel discussions.
